The Framework

The R.E.S.E.T. Framework

Rhythm. Environment. Sleep. Energy. Timing. The five biological domains that determine whether your metabolism runs — or drifts.

R

Rhythm

Circadian timing.

Consistent wake time, sleep window, and meal timing anchored to your biological and environmental signals. This is the foundation — every other domain compounds on top of it.

Key signals

  • Consistent wake time (7 days a week)
  • Anchored meal window
  • Regular sleep onset
  • Seasonal alignment
E

Environment

Light is the master signal.

Morning sunlight anchors the cortisol awakening response, supports insulin and leptin sensitivity, and sets melatonin onset 14–16 hours later. Evening light reduction protects sleep architecture.

Key signals

  • Direct outdoor light within 1 hour of waking
  • Midday sunlight exposure
  • Reduced artificial light after sunset
  • Blackout sleep environment
S

Sleep

Where metabolic repair happens.

Deep sleep is when cortisol normalizes, inflammation drops, and hormones stabilize. Sleep timing, sleep environment, and circadian alignment are addressed as one system.

Key signals

  • Sleep efficiency above 90%
  • Sleep onset under 15 minutes
  • Cool, dark, quiet room
  • Consistent sleep window
E

Energy

Metabolism is fundamentally energy production.

Metabolic flexibility, nutrient density, resistance training programmed against your DEXA, and targeted mitochondrial support restore your body’s ability to produce energy efficiently.

Key signals

  • Metabolic flexibility (fat + glucose use)
  • Adequate protein intake
  • Resistance training 2–4x/week
  • Zone-2 aerobic base
T

Timing

The variable most programs miss.

Daily meal timing, seasonal diet, and exercise timing. The same inputs delivered at the wrong time produce a fraction of the effect on insulin sensitivity, fat metabolism, and hormonal signaling.

Key signals

  • Meal timing aligned to light cycle
  • No eating within 3 hours of bed
  • Training timed to circadian phase
  • Seasonal carbohydrate variation

Why the order matters

Most health programs jump straight to Energy — diet, training, supplements. Those inputs matter, but if Rhythm and Environment are broken, Energy interventions leak. You train, and recovery does not happen. You eat well, and body composition does not shift. You take supplements, and nothing changes.

Install Rhythm first. Layer Environment. Restore Sleep. Then Energy compounds. Timing ties it all together.

This is why R.E.S.E.T. is a sequence, not a checklist.
